The client specializes in selling heavy equipment. Since these are complex and expensive products, they are sold through auctions. However, a regular ecommerce website in this case is not sufficient. This solution involves the development of special software for bidding. Therefore, the client turned to Plavno.
Challenges & solutions
There were no mobile apps which could make the bidding process more comfortable for the users.
We delivered an iOS application on React Native that basically duplicated the functionality of the website from the collector’s perspective. There was a personal user profile with a history of bidding, users could buy items at a fixed price, and place bids taking parts in the online auctions.
As the number of products on the website storefront increased, finding the necessary item became a heroic usability battle almost impossible to win.
To help users find objects on the website faster, we performed data migration and integrated the software for auction with ElasticSearch Service. Due to code clean-up, huge parts of the legacy code were deprecated, so we also made sure all the remaining parts are compatible with the newly integrated website search.
